After a relaxing evening at Helen's, we were up bright and early. We were out the door by 8AM to drive to the ferry that brought us to the Isle of Arran. On the ferry (my first) I made friends with an adorable puggy named Peppermint Patty!
Arran is a stunning island, even in the cold and pouring rain! I made the mistake of telling Helen I wanted some authentic Scottish weather. Be careful what you ask for!
Almost immediately we went to say Hi to Helen's friend, who runs ...a horse stable. She put us to work (hardly), taking 3 of her horses out to pasture. I made friends with the hourse called Owen. There were also two, oh so sweet, Springer Spaniels who have the best doggie beds ever, and who are very cuddly and friendly.
Helen and I drove around the island (about 52 miles around), then took a walk on a remote road for about an hour and a half in the downpour. I was eager to see the Machrie Moor Standing Stones, a series of ancient stone circles - mini Stonehenges, if you will, and so fascinating!
Soaked to the skin, we went to Janie's for lunch- a little restaurant in a quaint stone building, where I had a delicious, HOT baked potato.
After touring more of the island we checked into our B&B. My room had a lovely view of the sea outside of my window (as well as the rain). I changed into dry things and finally started warming up!
For supper we went to a lovely restaurant with a sea view and I got to meet Helen's friend, Janette. What a funny and sweet lady! I really got a kick out of her!
